What is Genesis Rock?
Genesis Rock is a 100% ceramic compound fired at over 315°C (600°F). Its porous structure provides unmatched surface area, making it an excellent base for both aerobic (ammonia & nitrite removal) and anaerobic (nitrate removal) bacteria. Place it under substrate, in your sump, refugium, or integrate seamlessly into your aquascape.
Directions
- Rinse thoroughly with purified or aquarium water.
- For best results, soak rocks in aquarium water mixed with your preferred bacterial product (e.g., Polyplab Genesis) for at least 12 hours.
- If not using supplements, rinse and place directly in your aquarium.
- Heavier bio-load tanks (e.g., predator systems) may require additional rocks.
Placement Options
- Aerobic (Ammonia & Nitrite Removal): Place above water level with trickling flow (~150 L/h).
- Anaerobic (Nitrate Removal): Place in a low-flow, oxygen-poor zone (e.g., sump, refugium, under substrate).
- Balanced: Place in a medium flow area to support both aerobic bacteria on the surface and anaerobic bacteria inside the core.
*Avoid contact with vibrating equipment such as protein skimmers to prevent block damage.
