New Guinea wrasse

New Guinea Wrasse - Anampses neoguinaicus

    Males are typically more colorful, with vibrant green to bluish bodies and a distinct red or orange tail.

    Females and juveniles are more subdued in color, often showing brownish or greenish tones.

    Like many wrasses, this species is sex-changing (protogynous hermaphrodite)—females can transition into males as they mature.

Behavior and Diet:

    Diet: Carnivorous, feeding on small invertebrates such as crustaceans, mollusks, and worms.

    Behavior: Active swimmers, generally peaceful but may become territorial, especially males.

    Water Conditions: Stable, high-quality water; temperature around 24–28°C (75–82°F)

    Reef Safe: Generally reef safe but may pick at small crustaceans
