Reef Micro•Fuel works effectively as a growth accelerator for natural bacteria in marine aquariums by stimulating reproduction. It pairs particularly well with microbial cultures such as BacterGen•M or BacterGen•MD.

It can be used in place of alcohol or other food sources in denitrators. Continuum recommends regular use of BacterGen•M along with Reef Micro•Fuel to replenish and accelerate both aerobic and anaerobic bacterial populations in your aquarium. This will help reduce toxic ammonia, nitrites, phosphates, and organic pollutants.

BacterGen•MD is primarily designed to establish and accelerate anaerobic bacterial populations in denitrators and live rock, aiding in nitrate control.

Directions and Protocol

Shake well before use. Always use with a well-functioning protein skimmer (you may turn it off briefly during initial addition, but restart it within a few hours).

Monitor phosphate and nitrate levels during use. Adjust dosage based on system type:

• Normal Systems: Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 50 US gallons (200 L) daily. Once phosphate and nitrate levels are nearly immeasurable, reduce dosage by 50%. Adjust as needed to maintain proper levels.
• Low Nutrient Systems: Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 100 US gallons (200 L) daily. Measure nutrient levels and reduce dosage if levels begin to rise. Adjust as needed.
